Welcome to the website of FotoGraaGHanneke
After several years, it’s time to update my website. With this new site, I aim to keep up with the times while offering a space where everything comes together: my passion, my work, and my stories. Welcome to the world of FotoGraaGHanneke.
My photography journey began in childhood, strongly influenced by my father. Photography was his hobby, and I grew up surrounded by cameras and the smell of chemicals in his darkroom (or rather, dark closet). Although terms like shutter speed, ISO values, and aperture meant nothing to me at the time, that didn’t change, but I absolutely loved taking photos when I received my first camera at the age of eight: a simple, flat device mainly used for family snapshots and vacation photos.
Over the years, my passion for photography evolved. My cameras became more advanced, and I delved deeper into the technical aspects of the craft. I took courses, and in 2008, I switched to a digital SLR camera. In the years that followed, I photographed events, festivals, and portraits. Unfortunately, I had to stop due to health issues. Because of small fiber neuropathy (SFN) and a long-untreated B12 deficiency, I am no longer physically and mentally able to do everything I used to.
But my love for photography remained
Today, I work with a Nikon D5200, a lightweight camera that is easy for me to handle. Nature is my greatest source of inspiration. Whether it’s a tiny insect, a delicate flower, or a vast landscape, I am endlessly amazed by the details and grandeur of the world around us. This passion was passed down from my grandfather, who taught me early on to observe and listen closely to nature. I also find beautiful moments on the streets, often during outings with my mobility scooter. My camera is always with me.
Social media played an important role in my development as a photographer. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, I primarily used Twitter to share information about B12 deficiency and SFN. Later, I began sharing more of my photography there, and my network grew. During the pandemic, these connections became even more significant. I found not only a distraction from my chronic pain but also inspiration and new friendships with people worldwide.
In addition to photography, I have explored digital art and new technologies. Since 2017, I have had a shop on Werk aan de Muur/Art Heroes where I sell prints. In 2022, I expanded into the world of NFTs, selling my work on platforms such as Objkt, Foundation, Opensea, and Manifold. Additionally, I collect art from other creators. Using AI has brought an entirely new dimension to my creative process. With it, I create colorful fantasy worlds that differ greatly from my photography but challenge and inspire me.
In 2023, I had the honor of being one of the first artists to showcase my work on Vitruveo, an innovative platform that combines art, technology, and new media. On their Xibit platform for art, you can discover my work in various forms: NFTs, prints, and more. The possibilities continue to expand, from games to streaming and films. It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on!
I warmly invite you to explore my website. Browse my collection, be inspired by my stories, and please return often. My creative journey continues, and I will keep sharing my passion for photography and art with the world.
Enjoy, Hanneke
